An Unusually Heinous Week

Last week was the third week of Eli having stomach flu, stomach issues, and resulting bathroom complications. In many ways, it was our worst yet. The main difference was the sheer volume of tears. I think Eli spent more time crying last week than not crying. It was exhausting for all of us. The problems started on Monday. Grammie took Eli to her house after bringing Chick-Fil-A over for lunch.

On a side note, Keira made a little stride in eating during that lunch. After a promising start, Keira has followed in her brother's no babyfood footsteps. When I try to feed her babyfood, she twists her head away from the spoon, closes her eyes and purses her lips. She acts as if she's being tortured. Needless to say, I haven't been very motivated to subject her to it. I try a little bit each week, but mostly I'm waiting for this to wear off. Last Monday's lunch was progress. Grammie and I tried Chick Fil-A's new yogurt parfaits (yum) -- Keira was very interested. Grammie gave Keira a little vanilla yogurt on a spoon, and Keira actually opened her mouth for a second and third bite. Of course, by the time I got the camera she was back to her old tricks.

Back to Eli's stomach drama... On Monday, we picked Eli up early from Grammie's house. You know something's really wrong when he wants to come home from one of the Grandma's. Then, Tuesday was awful. He spent most of his day in the bathroom crying. To complicate matters, Keira's teething and isn't interested in being put down. So, every time I went to help one of them the other one was crying. Unfortunately, tears are contagious. I spent most of my day with at least one of them crying. Tuesday evening, Scott took Eli to the doctor. Even though by Wednesday afternoon he was much better, he was an emotional wreck for the rest of the week. It was incredibly exhausting. I'm just so glad it's over.

We all have a lot to clap for... Not only did we survive our heinous week, but we are going to Disney World!!! Thanks to a wonderful Christmas and a generous tax return we will be celebrating our tenth anniversary in twelve days at Disney World. We will be going on February 15th through February 20th. Eli and I are anxiously counting down the days.

Finally, as a way to thank our family and friends for our great Christmas, Eli helped write his Thank You cards this year. Mom found these great Thank Yous at her store. Originally, I was imagining Eli just signing his and possibly Keira's name. But, while getting really excited before Christmas he wrote quite a bit on a few of them. Here's my favorite one that he wrote to Grandpa Jan and Grandma Karen. He asked me how to spell their names and wrote the letters by himself. I was pleasantly surprised by how many letters he knew how to write. He wrote the purple writing before Christmas and the green writing a few weeks ago.
