Happy Birthday Keira Lou!

I can't believe my baby girl is one today! Unbelievable! Upon Eli's insistence, we started this morning by opening cards and presents from our out of town family and friends. Thanks Grandpa Jan and Grandma Karen, Auntie Anne and Uncle John, Grandma June and Granddad, Aunt Sally, Aunt Lucy, and Auntie Anne Disch! Eli helped Keira open all her cards and presents, but Keira got in on the fun, too.

Right before heading to story time and after her morning nap, I changed Keira into her birthday outfit. Grammie got it for her, thanks Grammie! I snapped a few pictures before heading out. First, she's grinning with one of her new favorite things -- the carpet sweeper. Both of my kids hate the vacuum, and traditional sweeping bothers my allergies, but I whip out the carpet sweeper almost every day to keep our floors generally clean. Keira's in love! If you give her a finger and let her lead you around the house she will invariably head straight to the carpet sweeper and with assistance push it all over the house.

Next, Keira showed off a little of her crawling skills. She's become quite the crawler. She can crawl across the room now, but she'd much prefer to have a finger and walk across instead.

Following our recent Tuesday routine, we then headed to the library for Story Time. It's a little challenging keeping Keira occupied, since this Story Time is geared toward 3-5 year olds. That means that it's a half an hour of sitting still, listening to stories, singing songs and making crafts. But, Eli loves it. To try and keep Keira happy and quiet I usually give her my purse to play with. She loves to take things out one at a time, and try to put them back in. She also loves to smile, flirt and wave at the people seated around us. Today she tried to impress the mom sitting behind us by showing her my pack of gum and grinning. Here are Eli and Keira during the craft time.

Finally, after Story Time, Keira, Eli and I headed to IHOP to meet Grammie for brunch.
