2 Days 'til Disney, K Girls and Super Snowy Day

We have two days left until we go to Disney World! Eli and I have been anxiously counting down the days, I think we started at 23 days to go. It's unbelievable that we'll be leaving on Monday morning. So exciting! We ordered customizable maps from Disney World and we've been looking at them and finding all the numbers a few times each day. Eli says he's excited to go on the train at Downtown Disney, the big train around the Magic Kingdom and the 3D Mickey Movie. Every time we look at the maps we find something else to talk about and anticipate.

Eli's behavior has been so much better since we started the sticker chart. All I have to do is tell him that I'll have to start counting and he shapes up. The anticipation of the counting, or the counting itself and not getting a sticker is punishment enough. I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of taking care of and entertaining two children, but I know that the whole thing is about to change compeletely once Keira starts really moving around. Then, I'll start the learning and adjusting all over again. Of course, I say that I have it under control, then Scottie went to run a few errands yesterday morning and Eli lost his mind. It's so strange, he's great all week, then Scott's home for a snow day and leaves for a little while and he loses his mind. Oh well, keeps you on your toes.

On the bright side, one really great thing that Eli started doing again last week was "reading" to his sister. She loves it, it's so sweet and it gives me a moment when they are both happily entertained. It may be one of my favorite big brother things he does.

Keira's "talking" up a storm still. She's trying to say Eli -- "Eeee-Iiie" and brother. She's got "dada" and "mama" down, she's also says "kee-kee" or "cat" for Kodi. And, she still says "kak-kak" or "duk-duk" for quack and duck. She's always having conversations with us, and her new thing is that everything is a question. She babbles a long string of vowel sounds and at the end her voice goes up like she's asking a question. This talking stuff is serious business, she's working very hard at it. And, her waving is getting better, more appropriate and more predictable. Last night, she gave Uncle Jason and Auntie Andrea two great waves good bye accompanied by big grins. She's still teething up a storm -- her fifth tooth is painfully hovering below the surface, so she's fairly demanding right now. She does play by herself for short stints, and her favorite place is on the floor. Her favorite toys are our phones and my pedometer. If she does every crawl it will probably be to chase Kodi.

As I mentioned previously, Scott had yesterday off for a snow day. We were skeptical, as of 12:00 there was no snow in sight. But, it did start snowing around 1:00, and it snowed for most of the night. It may be the best accumulation we've every seen, and the roads and walkways are very icy.

Eli's never too excited to go out in the snow, as he doesn't want to be cold or get bundled up, but this morning I convinced him to step outside with me. He was fascinated with crunching the snow under his feet and looking around at the beautiful winter wonderland.

He was ready to stay outside and explore in his scant clothes and his crocs. Of course, he was in no way ready for snow or the twenty five degree weather, so I dragged him back inside and got him and I more properly outfitted. It was the first time that he's really enjoyed the snow. He was scooping it up and throwing it on our icy front path.

We even got Keira out in the snow for the first time.

But, of course, by the time we got all four of us outfitted for the snow, it was time to go in. Right after I got Keira's hands covered and a blanket tucked around her, Eli was ready to go in. He had fallen on the ice a few times and soaked through his fleece mittens. It was fun while it lasted. Maybe we will go back out again once we dry out and warm up.
